Mecnov designed and fabricated this custom heavy-duty conveyor for a major aluminium transformer located in Quebec, Canada.

When used for this purpose, the system assists the rolling mill while rolling thin-gauge sheets (as thin as 3/16 in.). In that specific setup, the free roller section is aligned with the rolling mill to allow the sheet being laminated to roll on the conveyor. When the sheet has reached its required gauge, it is rolled onto a very large roller to be further processed by other machines.

Rolling heavier gauge aluminium sheets

When the rolling mill produces plates, the motorized roller section is first aligned with the rolling mill. Upon completion of the rolling process, the sheet is transferred onto the system. When the transfer has been completed, the system is shifted to allow the sheet to be conveyed to the sawing station.
