Immersion Tanks – Billets Inspection
These heavy-duty ultrasonic immersion inspection tanks are built to last. They can be designed with up to six servo-driven axes. These immersion tanks are designed for ultrasonic inspection of billets and shafts of various alloys, lengths and diameters.
The tank is completely independent of the steel structure of the Cartesian robot to ensure precision and accuracy under every load condition.
The tank is made of high-quality 304-L stainless steel sandblasted to obtain a superior smooth finish, free of burrs and welding marks. Depending on the size of the unit, one or two windows of appropriate size are added to the tank.
The immersion tank is equipped with a high-volume filtration system that filters water in close circuit to remove solid particles as small as 20 microns. As an option, the immersion tank can also be equipped with an electrical heating system of appropriate size to keep water temperature to an acceptable level for ultrasound inspection.
The steel structure receives state-of-the-art heat treatment after welding to ensure long-term geometric stability.
Depending on the size, precision, repeatability and speed requirements, these units are either designed with rack and pinion, timing belt units or ball screw units.
Single or multi-parts rotators are servo-driven and, depending on the application, the traverse center distance can be adjusted to accommodate a wider range of diameters.
Every tank is delivered with a metrology performance evaluation report carried out by a third-party expert in metrology, based on current ISO 230 standards.
Axis movements and ultrasonic inspection are performed by OlympusNDT MotionView™ and TomoView™ softwares from a single PC.
